Wednesday Wierdness --- Wierdly Speaking, Rick Perry Was Honest Just Not Politically Correct

Time to set off all of those liberal Vine Vigilante tracking bars.  Did I catch you by surprise posting so late ? Cool, hope I spoiled the day for a whole bunch of Vine-saints.

Wednesday Weirdness Is Here To Stay Until Tyler and Sally just can't take it anymore.

Down to business.

Politicos from  from every rat-hole, roach den  and cesspool are taking every shot they can to paint Gov. Rick Perry as un-Presidential ( to put it mildly ) for his statements  concerning Bernanke and the printing of more money. It is so wrong for a Presidential candidate to speak in such a manner. Can't have an unthinking motor mouth for President, especially not another one of those dumb hick Texas Governors, unless of course Texas can come up with another LBJ.

Surely most of you have seen the replays (thousands of them) of Perry holding the microphone and talking to supporters. Look at his body language, can you doubt his sincerity? He meant what he said. Unlike the Obama's and Carl Roves on the political scene, he wasn't thinking about playing the campaign game, he was thinking about what he felt was best for the country. You will find millions that agree with him on the issue of printing more money which would do nothing more than create a temporary facade of better liquidity but in truth will only serve to devalue the U.S. dollar. Remember the old cartoons with the guy pushing a wheel barrel of money to the store to buy a loaf of bread.? Printing of more money is detrimental to the well being of the U.S. economy and could by some be considered treasonous.

Where are the arguments against his stated facts? I forgot, this is the United States, where these days political correctness is of more importance than substance or honesty.

Nope, that's not it. Not only was he thinking about the campaign game, he was talking about it in explicit terms.

Asked about the Federal Reserve, Perry told a questioner at a campaign stop in Iowa that if Bernanke "prints more money between now and the election I don't know what you'all would do to him in Iowa but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas."

...the election...

I've seen the tape several times. That's why I know the quote is accurate- "...prints more money before the election..." That's what he said. Whether or not he said it to supporters is irrelevant.

There's no dispute over whether or not he said it. We're talking about why he said it. This is how owlsview characterized his remarks:

Unlike the Obama's and Carl Roves on the political scene, he wasn't thinking about playing the campaign game, he was thinking about what he felt was best for the country.

My point is that he absolutely was playing the campaign game. Here's the clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ6BCWjX04A

Here's the full quote:

"If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I dunno what y'all would do to him in Iowa but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous – or treasonous in my opinion,"

He's more than intimating that Bernanke will be "playing politics" in Obama's favor if he does something to try to improve the economy before the 2012 election. Forget the stupid, over the top trash talk about "treating him ugly" and "treason". It's typical, laughably empty bluff and bluster. The most outrageous thing in that display is the fact that he's tying to intimidate Bernanke into doing nothing to improve the economy for purely political reasons. Owlsview says he's not playing the campaign game, but that statement is about nothing but the campaign game. It's completely Rovian.

Oh please Plant:

If intimating that Bernanke would be a treasonous jerk (along with the insinuation that doing so would help Obama's chances for re-election) for printing more money ahead of the election were a sin, hell, a lot of us would've already gone to hell. Get over it.

Printing more money to pump into a weak economy would indeed be seen as a move to help Obama's odds of re-election--and he ought to be worried... His approval rating as of August was 41%, and I believe it had slipped to under 40% last week.

So, yeah, anyone who wouldn't see all that money printing as an extra chance to help Obama is a willingly blind person.

And don't get me wrong--I'm not saying it would help him retain the WH digs. I'm just saying that anyone who doesn't see the political motive behind it is simply fooling him/herself.

...and anyone who doesn't see the political motive behind Perry's remarks is fooling him/herself. He's basically saying that he doesn't want the economy to improve before the election. That's not exactly treasonous, but it's a hell of a lot closer to it than the accusation he's making.

The bottom like is that owlsview claims that Perry's remarks weren't at all political. They were- in the most partisan way possible.

And still more super sizing of corporations. More money in fewer hands equals more politicians in the same hands. Thats what they make lobbying for regulations and tax credits/subsidies for I guess. I doubt the lobbyist groups are suffering from unemployment.

And government by Smart Phone doesn't guarantee smart government. The phone is only as smart as the person holding it :)

katlin: The Patriot Act is merely a continuation of the laws enacted under Reagan to help fight the war on drugs. You should research what the DEA and ATF have the power to do already. Check out the power Florida game wardens have. There are a good many reasons the news media keep us looking the other way. If Americans truly had any idea how many freedoms they no longer have, the reults would be unpredictable at the very least.

believe me--we citizens have few if any rights left--- dealing with our state DHS, it is actually no better than a communist country's doctrine.. it is amazing how much power they have and how little people have even over their own families....the bottom line is all children belong to the state , you only have them if they allow you too..you have no "right" to them even your own..

as far as game wardens go, the same in my state, they have more power than the police and that was a police officer that said so,,they can and do come onto your property to ticket, arrest and confiscate property without any warrants....all of it of coarse in the name of preventing crime....the police officer said that he's had game wardens swim up to his boat in scuba gear & ask for his "fishing license", another freind who lives on a farm had a game warden threaten to take away their ATV'S and "paint them orange" because they didn't have a helmet on...incredible but legal..

Well Owl I just find it amazing with all the "rich" folk in this country that the United Arab Emirates were the ones doing the donating. Where is Dell? Microsoft? HP? Goldman Sachs? Profits are up across the board, Americans are in need, and it is the Arabs who send help. Of course this may also be a case of media spin/ignorance and no reporting has been done on other contributors to the cause of re-building Joplin. Which is of course another good topic for discussion.

No his remark was offensive. Since when does a presidential candidate threaten a U.S official he has a disagreement with. Not everyone shares his view and not everyone in Texas shares his view.

He was pandering to the angry right. Do we really need another Texan panderer. Conservative philosophy got us in this mess in the first place only the hard core wing nuts think it can be our savior. The man lacks the self discipline you Conservatives love to talk about.

I would love to know what money is backing is rise in popularity.

The far right spent 2+ years harping about the presidents birth certificate and candidates like perry openly question the presidents loyalty. If any party harps constantly over nothing it is the Conservatives. The selective amnesia of Conservatives is amazing.

Exactly what was the treat? Was it that Bernanke wouldn't be treated very nice? Wow, awesome threat. Is Obama being treated very nice? Any of the candidates?

Oh, I get it you assume by that he meant they would act like juvenile liberals in England, ransacking the streets, catching this guy and hanging him. Not treating him very nice couldn't possibly mean calling him out on the carpet and demanding a complete explanation for his actions and if found guilty of a crime prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Nah, that would be the kind of thing church going people would do, we can't have that kind of thing going on now can we?

Exactly what was the treat? Was it that Bernanke wouldn't be treated very nice?

Except Perry didn't say Texas wouldn't "treat him very nice." He said they would "treat him pretty ugly." If Perry meant to say, "Well, we would yell at him a lot and picket wherever he is and maybe arrest and try him for something or other if the facts warranted it," there are a whole lot of better ways to say it than to leave it to people's imaginations what "pretty ugly" is supposed to mean.

That said, I don't think it was so much a threat as it was a dog whistle to his base. Whatever the case, statements like that sure aren't going to make me vote for the guy.

Good point, Katlin. What people seem to be forgetting: It's all rhetoric. The left is working hard to discredit all comers instead of working hard to fix the things that are broken. This made up 'controversy' with all the mock indignation is just part of that.

people on both sides of the spectrum are getting sick of all the talk, insults, and rhetoric on both sides instead of dealing with issues and solutions.....

perry's comment was regarding a point that is affecting the economics of our country and perhaps was not worded eloquently but was nontheless a truth.....same ole bull from the left, they won't deal with the intent and content of the message but that "we don't like perry" cause he's a christian or whatever ...

Other crimes under the new law that will mean either a five-year or permanent disqualification include selling drugs on or near school grounds, killing a police officer and sex trafficking.

Now that's what I call being tough on crime...if you sell drugs to kids, murder a cop or you're a pimp...you can be disqualified from driving a school bus for FIVE WHOLE YEARS.

The major question that I have is, does Rick Perry understand that Texas is just one state out 50?
And yes, I do question his patriotism seeing that he thought it a good idea for Texas to secede from the union. That alone disqualifies him from being POTUS.

when a foreign entity (illegals) invade a state and the fed does nothing to defend them, then maybe they have every right to feel they are not part of the USA..when you have a president that stands at the border of our country and waves across the border and disses the citizens of his own country that alone disqualifies obama from being POTUS..

On another note, Obama asked the audience if he needed to build a moat on the border to make republicans happy. There is already a moat on the border Mr. President, it’s called the Rio Grande.

Maybe I am late to the ball game but what is the complaint about what he said? Was it what he said or how he said it that was supposed to be so bad? What is the claim? Surely this isn't another "crosshairs" moment is it? From "treating him ugly in Texas" ? If it is this then I lose any respect for anyone that uses that approach and expects to be taken seriously. After kidnapping, hostage taking, terrorist, killing granny, treasonous, enslaving the poor..... "ugly in Texas" crosses the line?

Unbelievably transparent. I hope most people have enough self respect not to try to parrot this and be taken seriously. Wow. Trust me, you are harming yourselves in the eyes of moderates and independents with such outragious claims. LMAO, Libertarian can you picture Republicans going to bed with red stuffed little donkeys? Believe it or not, the major complaint is that Perry is politically incorrect. Doesn't couch his comments, speaks from the heart you know the kind of stuff we used to hear from candidates before PC took over.

Hey is PC actually a law and or requirement to be a President? If so, can we get it repealed?

PC is fluid and is interpreted on a case-by-case basis. Or more specifically on a party-by-party basis. The creators of PC write the rules governing its use I guess. And any more "Politically Correct" seems to be an oxymoron.

But if you are busy talking about whether something is not PC or not you aren't talking about the validity of the statement. Perhaps that is the goal. Did anyone respond with a counter to the opinion that we need to stop printing money?

I think obama told perry to "watch what he says"...

I think obama is afraid that people will find out just how much this devalues our money and that this IS the obam plan..it is the only way our debt can be paid off at this point and a stategy the gov is counting on....the less our money is worth , the less our debt..

Until this happened I wasn't really all that inclined to give Perry a real shot. Now, he is third on my list behind Romney and Ron Paul. He just might have a harder time beating out Paul than Romney in my playbook.

I like the fact that he honestly points out the idiocy in DC and the hell with being PC...what is even funnier is obama's reaction and telling perry to "watch what he says" after calling hardworking, taxpaying americans "terrorists"...another 'let's tone down the rhetoric' moment until the next insult is flung out by a dem... my guess is that should be tomorrow..

Oh, for the days when one didn't have to "watch what one said" for fear of being...what? Demonized? Silenced? Attacked? Arrested and jailed? Wasn't it Chris Matthews who said Perry had better "hope he was squeaky clean"? When the media starts to threaten political figures with character assassination and media demonization for speaking their mind...well, "Houston, we have a problem."

Oh, that's right...we don't have a "Houston" anymore...the space program is over.

for fear of being...what? Demonized? Silenced? Attacked?

this happens several times a day--all you have to do is disagree with a lib....somehow I doubt perry is afraid of ANY lib...inc. obama and his minions..

Wasn't it Chris Matthews who said Perry had better "hope he was squeaky clean"? When the media starts to threaten political figures with character assassination and media demonization for speaking their mind..

chris matthews LOL--what a whackjob...would hardly call what he does as being in the media...he looks like that albino in the "di vinci code"...he probably "whips" himself in front of a poster of obam every night...

libertarian y2k-- watch out you anarchist....it is a sad day when the ideals of liberty and freedom is considered anarchy by people who call themselves liberal..I find the ONLY thing they are liberal with is insults and other people's money...

It's fun that people are castigating Gov. Perry for what? His 'tone'? These same people have no issue with President Obama bowing to the Saudi Royalty, insulting the English (our closest ally), etc., etc. Shows their true colors.

Not one single argument concerning the validity of his remark. For around here that really isn't weird, just amazing.

Sorry, Owls...I just thought the validity of his remark was too evident to need commenting...after all, I would think that raging inflation would be the LAST thing we need right now.

You are right about that the printing of more money and devaluing the dollar is almost certainly disastrous. I read the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 a while ago, have been paying attention to gold prices. I now have a new concern which I must research.

Is the U.S. gold supply subject to being portioned out to other countries for settlement of our debts?I believe that this could be a serious problem.

owlsview--i have to agree--I thought the validity of his remark was evident--that the non stop printing of money only leads to a devalued dollar and inflation...how does that help us?......the libs didn't like it because it pointed out another fallacy of the O policies......but what I found even more amazing was O's answer " watch what you say" after all the insults he and his VP has slung, without attempting to refute the contents of what he said...libbies on NV took his cue and attack perry personally...

Is the U.S. gold supply subject to being portioned out to other countries for settlement of our debts?I believe that this could be a serious problem.

as far as I know owning physical gold in any form other than jewelry or "collectors" coins is still subject to confiscation by the gov....although they changed the law that you "can" do it you do it at your own peril so to speak..

I think Ron Paul is the expert in the federal reserve on the ticket. And you are right; plenty of arguments about "how" he said something and crickets concerning "what" he said.

Maybe he should try sign language. Although, given his opinions about the Fed, there may be too many rude gestures to show on TV.

I do remember him saying several yrs. ago that "we need to audit the fed"--that was either deemed illegal or just plain ignored....we should have done it......now the money has "just disappeared"?

My 15.2 was referring more to the possibility of, let me ask it this way; Is a large portion of the actual U.S. Gold Bullion such as is stored at Fort Knox, subject to being physically transferred to Ft. European Union or Ft. China as payment on our debts?

Thank both of you for the links and for reassuring me that there are others out there looking at the bigger picture.

I think I find myself in a cross on the issue of selling our bullion. Morally it appears to be the right thing to do so as to be able to pay our debts. Survival wise I am not so sure. When you survey the area of big business, banks and manufacturing you can't miss the growing amount of foreign monetory involvement, in some cases even dominance. Would it be wise to allow the offshore transfer of the only material asset that we have to maintain our countries wealth with? If as you both ask, it is really still there.

I don't know owl, all I know is what I've read of coarse.. but with the question of why ron paul never got anywhere with his "audit the fed" issue makes you wonder .....the one thing anyone with any honesty says though is that our country is really and truly flat busted broke,....and that the ONLY way we can pay off some of our debt is thru inflation and the continued printing of money, thus deflating the dollar and making it look like we owe less..of coarse this will only go so far also..
